Analyzing the science achievement test: Perspective of classical test theory and Rasch analysis

Assessment in teaching and learning allows both instructor students to evaluate the achievement, performance improve upon it. The achievement test appears as one of most commonly used assessment tools determine students' gains cognitive domain. study analysed science (SAT), a multiple-choice for grade 10 senior secondary school students. 50 SAT items were developed compliance with Malaysian curriculum specification. face content validity validated by experts field. was administered pilot study. collected data using item analysis based on classical theory (CTT) Rasch analysis. In terms difficulty index (p), showed that there five difficult items, 33 moderately 12 easy items. Findings also reported eight presented poor due discriminating power. good coefficient 0.862 Kuder-Richardson 20 (KR-20) 0.851 split half method. While reliable separation person. Besides, displayed are two should be refreshed or removed. revealed solid, valid, tool, which is suitable measure student’s science.
